Irish fashion was the theme of the night on the biggest red carpet of the year.
Friday night’s Peter Mark VIP Style Awards saw some of Ireland’s best dressed gathering at Dublin’s Marker Hotel for a night of fashionable fun.
And if there was one common theme, it was our dedication to Irish fashion in all its forms.
Xpose host Cassie Stokes wore jewellery by Edge Only, the accessories label founded by former RTE DJ Jenny Huston, showcasing her latest collaboration with artist Leah Hewson.
Designer Helen Steele, whose work is preferred by Saoirse Ronan, Amy Huberman and Laura Whitmore, used her design to send a political message.
Her asymmetric ‘Fashion is Repealing’ dress, referencing the upcoming referendum on the eighth amendment, was a talking point of the night which is exactly what she hoped for when she created the concept.
“The inspiration behind the dress was to create something to raise awareness to repeal the eighth amendment,” she told Independent.ie Style.
“I created the print and the fabric only arrived this week, so myself and my team only finished making the dress on Thursday. It’s a really comfortable dress and the gathered top can be worn on or off the shoulder.”
Former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter chose a bespoke piece by her close friend and rising designer Eamonn McGill, whom she first befriended when they were both studying at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD).
“I loved Taylor Swift’s Grammys outfit from 2016, so we took inspiration from that pink and red look and made our own,” she said.
“Eamonn made a full skirt with pockets which I loved.”
